Who We Are
Jeanean Merkel
Jeanean Merkel’s career has focused on assisting nonprofit and church
clients reach their goals for public awareness and recruitment. Her experience
includes managing communications for an international order of Catholic sisters,
providing support to the international, U.S. and development entities of that
congregation and coordinating communications for the leadership conferences
of Catholic priests, brothers and sisters in the United States.
Jeanean is president of the Religion Communicators Council and also currently serves as president of the Catholic Academy for Communication Arts Professionals.
She is the former vice president of Paulist Media Works, which provided communication consultation, print materials, and Web site development for a wide range of Catholic clients and social service agencies.

Sheila George
Sheila George has over 20 years’ experience
in public relations and fundraising for Church and non-profit organizations
in Canada and the United States. She has served as Director of Public
Information for the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops and as Communications
Director for the Canadian Religious Conference in Ottawa, Canada and
the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) in Silver Spring,
MD.
She has also collaborated in ecumenical communications settings as a former Steering Committee Member of North American Broadcast Section-World Association for Christian Communication, and currently as a member of the Religion Communicators Council Board of Directors - Washington, D.C. Chapter. She has also volunteered as a meeting planner in North America for the ecumenical Community of Taize, France.
In the non-profit sector, Sheila George has worked with numerous theatre groups, The Canadian Opera Company, Big Sisters and was the national P.R. and Development Officer for L’Arche Canada, an international community for people with developmental disabilities founded by Jean Vanier.
Most recently, she was President of Credo Communications, a communications, web development and fundraising consultancy for Church and non-profit agencies committed to "the passionate, professional and effective communication of belief."
