Calibrate your monitor

While working with a client and a web designer the other day, we spend a great deal of time discussing colors and how they were appearing on the monitors of the four of us on the call.

How much easier it would have been if our monitors had been calibrated. What does that mean and why should you care? If you work on your organization’s website and you work with designers, calibrating your monitor can make the process much smoother. If you edit photos on your computer, calibration may be essential to ensure that your images appear to their best.
First, anyone who has been involved in a website design or redesign will realize that the site display can vary significantly from one user’s monitor to another’s. Monitor settings (preferences: settings: advanced) and browser setting can have as significant impact on how a website appears. While it is hopeless to try to control how your website appears in all environments, you can control your own display.
